early-ghost said: I’m on a very similar medication (Orsythia) and it has been really great. Minus the fact that I’m more susceptible to crying (stay away from the Lifetime channel or Grey’s Anatomy!!), everything else has been great. I’m on it every day, no week off.

It is so good to hear an experience that isn’t negative about it! I did read Levora is the generic version of Portia, but it freaked me out reading side effects range from darkened facial hair, excess hair growth, and hair loss, especially being PCOS symptoms.

I am glad you’re having a good experience with it, and I can relate to the crying, but from my previous birth control!

The insurance kicked in this month, and because it is a different insurance company, they go through a different manufacture. I was taking Portia for over a year with no issues, but since the change, the pharmacy switched my birth control to Levora and said it would just be fine. I have been reading horrible side effects, and a few that are already PCOS symptoms. Has anyone taken Levora before? I am going to call my OB in the morning, but was curious.

Within the past two weeks, according to my scale, I have lost 11 pounds. I was shocked to see that, so I checked it three times and all were the same. I have not changed anything drastically besides consume more protein and a little more fiber, while eating fruits and vegetables at every meal. Regardless, I’m happy with it!

Seattle’s vision of an urban food oasis is going forward. A seven-acre plot of land in the city’s Beacon Hill neighborhood will be planted with hundreds of different kinds of edibles: walnut and chestnut trees; blueberry and raspberry bushes; fruit trees, including apples and pears; exotics like pineapple, yuzu citrus, guava, persimmons, honeyberries, and lingonberries; herbs; and more. All will be available for public plucking to anyone who wanders into the city’s first food forest.

“This is totally innovative, and has never been done before in a public park,” Margarett Harrison, lead landscape architect for the Beacon Food Forest project, tells TakePart. Harrison is working on construction and permit drawings now and expects to break ground this summer.

The concept of a food forest certainly pushes the envelope on urban agriculture and is grounded in the concept of permaculture, which means it will be perennial and self-sustaining, like a forest is in the wild. Not only is this forest Seattle’s first large-scale permaculture project, but it’s also believed to be the first of its kind in the nation.

In order for my mother to go to a specialist for her thyroid disease, she has to attend two classes on diabetes. She went to the first class today and afterwards had a packet of information along with plenty to discuss.

She checked my blood sugar after every meal. 133 for lunch, which contained my carbs for the day, then 88 after dinner, and 103 after a snack. From what I read, after meals it is ideal to be below 180. Does anyone else know different? I am curious if this is decent, especially since I had misplaced my Metformin and missed doses for today.

Thank you! I remember hearing about that now that you mention it, I think I read about it on your blog! Always healthy choices, with a small square of dark chocolate when craved!
